In 1998, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease a malignant cancer of the lymphatic system. Following my diagnosis I completed six-months of chemotherapy with Adriamycin, Bleomycin, Dacarbazine (DTIC), and Vinblastine. One of the many late or long-term side effects of this treatment regimen is tingling and numbness in the fingers and toes. I of course began having numbness shortly after my treatments began. Now that I have been in remission for three and a half years, I still deal with this neuropathy. For example, my hands become numb when driving my car or washing my hair and my feet and legs become numb during exercise. Due to my decrease in quality of life and activities of daily living, I decided to seek medical care. After notifying my Oncologist, he explained that there was nothing to help with the numbness and that it would possibly be with me for the rest of my life. With this news I did not give up, but decided to seek Chiropractic care with hopes that my neuropathy could be relieved. I met through my Dr. James Colina work as a respiratory therapist and explained my concerns with him. He explained that Chiropractic services dealing with the adjustment of the spine and nervous system could possibly help with the neuropathy and would definitely improve my quality of life. I am currently in the beginning of my Chiropractic care with Marietta Chiropractic Specialists and after three adjustments my neuropathy has subsided substantially and my activities of daily living are easier. Since the decrease in the numbness, washing my hair and driving my car are not as frustrating. I have also been able to increase my exercise regimen due to my increase in lower extremity strength. I am amazed how quickly I felt results, after the first adjustment the neuropathy decreased and I felt better. Overall my experience with Marietta Chiropractic Specialists has been positive and encouraging. I realize spinal health is important for me to maintain my quality of life. Finally to the Oncologists, “Yes, there is something to help with the neuropathy side effect of chemotherapy!”

After one visit I feel like a new person! This is the best money I have ever spent on healthcare. After one treatment, I woke up the next morning and all the “stiffness” was gone. I was very skeptical about chiropractors, but I immediately felt better afterwords. I saw the difference in the scales(weight). I saw the difference in the posture. I was holding. I immediately felt relief in my clavicle. I went to bed that night and slept soundly for the first time in years without the aid of pills.

I've been with Dr. Colina for 3 months. Several things I've noticed:
1) The inserts a foot Dr. made for me had to go! I didn't need to "re-adjust" my walk once I was in alignment!
2) As I filled out my medicine sheets for my insurance in the New Year, it dawned on me- I have not had an Imitrex shot for my migraines since I've been coming here!! Wonderful- isn't it?

As a full-time student with pressures from school, family and work, I had a sudden onset of some very specific ( and frightening) symptoms the week of midterms. Here is what happened: the pupil of my right eye became dilated and stayed that way for a week, my vision in that eye was blurry, there was a painful, low-pitched ringing in my ears( tinnitus). The ground looked like it was moving under my feet(vertigo) and when reading the letters moved around on the page, when I laid down on my back I became nauseous, I had excruciating headaches every day that would last for hours.
After my first adjustment Sunday afternoon, I went on about my business as usual and Monday night I realized that I did not have a headache, tinnitus, vertigo or nausea since the adjustment. My pupil was it's normal size, but my vision in that eye was still blurry. I was checked again on Thursday and by that evening my vision was completely clear. I have been checked on a weekly basis for three weeks now and my body is holding the adjustments. None of these symptoms have recurred. I am extremely happy with these results and delighted to continue to get checked regularly.

I find it truly amazing that what seems so little has such a big impact. I have only been adjusted 4 times in the past three weeks. My back suffered an injury from falling off a horse 9 months ago. Dr. Colina is the 2nd Chiropractor I have seen since my incident and has quickly relieved my remaining problem areas. I have noticed an immediate release of tension in my neck, and hip area. I was skeptical at first about getting a NUCCA adjustment. I have been a traditional chiropractic patient for many years. When Dr. Colina adjusted me, I didn't hear any popping or really feel anything at first. When I stood up from the table, I felt different. My posture was different and I could see the changes in the mirror. My head rotation was gone and my high left shoulder was level. Dr. Colina checked my legs and the length was even. Most of all, I noticed my low back no longer hurt. He didn't even touch that area, yet the pain was gone. I noticed later that I even walked differently and felt more relaxed throughout. Because of Dr. Colina, I am now learning NUCCA due to its gentle effectiveness. I hope to help my future patients as he has helped me.

Before I was aligned I was not getting the most out of my sleep time each night, now I really sleep! Doctors have always tried to prescribe me depression medicine, I didn't want to take them; I wanted a natural way to control the problem. This has really helped me a lot. I felt results right away.

...I couldn't sleep without waking up every few hours, and my neck, and back hurt constantly. ......I became severely depressed. ....After my first adjustment, he told me to sit up and then walk around. I couldn't believe how good I felt when I sat up. The weight of all my stress seemed to melt away and I felt like a brand new person! A few minutes work .... and he had made all my problems essentially disappear. I cried and hugged him. It turned out to be one of the most happy times of my life. I have been going regularly to get adjusted at least once a week, and everything continues to improve. I had horrible TMJ and my overbite was 9mm according to my dental surgeon. After one palate surgery my gap was reduced to 7mm, but I had to endure intense pain with little results. My surgeon said I would need another surgery to reduce this further. I opted to see Dr. Colina because of a friends recommendation. After the first adjustment I was able to completely open my mouth for the first time in years. After two weeks of care I returned to my oral surgeon. He performed measurements on my mouth three times. Much to his confusion he remarked my gap had been reduced to 3mm and I was no longer a candidate for surgery. When I told him I had sought chiropractic care he couldn't believe or understand what my body had been through. Since this time I haven't had problems with my TMJ and do not need oral surgery!
